Lisa McLeod is a psychologist, executive coach, and work trainer with more than 20 years of experience working within private, government and not-for-profit sectors. She trains individuals to provide practical application of neuroscience and psychology in order to support human flourishing and happiness in the workplace. Since 2018, she has been facilitating workplace mental health training programs for the Black Dog Institute.
In the course of her work with people seeking assistance for mental health issues, Lisa has frequently encountered individuals who have not developed basic psychological skills through school or in their job. There are essential skills needed to cope with the daily challenges of life. Therefore, it was essential to develop mental health training for workplaces where most people are spending most of their waking hours.
Lisa's workplace mental health training programs have been developed to meet the needs of people in a diverse range of industries and work environments, from mining communities to law firms. Mental ill-health affects everyone, regardless of their role in an organization or their industry.
Lisa also focuses on teaching people how to identify signs of distress in themselves and their coworkers and how they can provide support to each other as an employee assistance program, which can help people successfully re-establish their normal work routines after experiencing mental ill-health. Examples of how mental ill-health may present at work include presenteeism, where an employee physically attends work but is unable to achieve his/her full potential, to withdrawal from work completely by the employee, which can significantly impact productivity and ultimately create a negative culture for the entire team.
